Traditional towns in the UK are very much the same or similar to traditional towns in Jiangnan, China, if one avoids the architectural features and natural scenery, such as: street layout, neighbourhoods and blocks, traditional local materials, native greenery and rivers. The characteristics of these towns are in fact almost identical in concept to those of towns in southern China, such as Suzhou, Zhouzhuang and Tongli.
The traditional Chinese regional culture and philosophy is one of symbiosis between man and nature, which is a common philosophy that can transcend national boundaries. If we apply the same philosophy, working methods, technology and learning from the traditional Chinese regional culture, we can solve similar problems. What we need to do is to bring it up to date and revitalize it. Cultural heritage and cultural innovation are our common mission and responsibility.
At the same time, in the planning and design of the cultural travel town, it must be clear: people are the protagonist of life and the town; operation and management is the lifeblood of the town. Therefore, product design and landscape design are equally important. The professional cooperation between the design team and the planning, investment and operation team, and the common participation of the government, the developer and the public are the only way to achieve a vibrant and energetic cultural travel town.
The training was fully affirmed by the participants. Representatives of the closing ceremony mentioned that the training was rich in content and practical, and that the trainees will consolidate and apply the training results to contribute to the construction of Hainan's free trade port.
