HMD Managing Director Jeff Xu Lectured at TJU School of Architecture

 

On March 26, 2014, the TJU School of Architecture homecoming series lecture - Xu Shi "Performance and Experience of Design" was held in the six-story auditorium of School of Architecture, Tianjin University. Students who were attracted by his fame stuffed up every corner of the auditorium. And some of Mr. Xu Shi's classmates were also present. The lecture was co-hosted by School of Architecture, Tianjin University, and the Urban Environment Design (UED) magazine.

 

Mr. Xu Shi started with some "small objects" and details that people often use in daily life, and then led to the topic of the lecture by comparison - "Performance and Experience of Design". The lecture went deep, layer by layer, into the understanding and expression of architectural "performance" and "experience" in architectural design. And through several representative plane graphs and design projects he had been charge of, he stressed on the continuous growth and changes based on the needs of people and society, so as to attach more abundant concepts onto the performance and experience of architectural design, expecting to achieve saturation and extension of performance and experience to the greatest extent with limited conditions or space. Meanwhile, in respect of design concept of public buildings, Mr. Xu Shi deem public building space as open as possible, and there should be no obvious or intended boundaries to shackle the communication between people and buildings.
